Tourism promotion festival opens in Borikhamsay
Over 200 booths of industry, handicraft, service and tourism sectors are on display at the 4th Tourism Promotion Festival for Five Central Provinces, which was opened in Phabathphonsanh temple, Thaphabath district, Borikhamsay province on 15 January.
The festival was opened by Deputy Prime Minster, Mr. Asang Laoly in the participation of ministers, deputy ministers, governors and vice governors, representatives from Vietnam and Thailand, and Borikhamsay residents.
The opening ceremony kicked off the parades of Borikhamsay people have showed off the fine cultures of each districts.
Speaking at the ceremony were Borikhamsay Governor Pan Noymany and Mr. Somphong Mongkhonvilay, Minister to Prime Minister's Office who is also President of Lao National Tourism Administration, they have highlighted that the tourism is a sector stipulated in the strategic plan of Party and Government's socio-economic development plan.
We have decided to organise the Tourism Promotion Festival for Five Central Provinces of Vientiane, Vientiane Capital, Khammouane, Savannakhet, and Borikhamsay is to focus on developing and boosting tourism in five central provinces, which is a part of tourism development in the country, said Mr. Somphong. It also promotes tourism in Borikhamsay province and connects to region.
The linkage of five central provinces is to translate the strategy on tourism development till 2020 by focusing on the tourism development of natural, historical and cultural sites.
There are 45 industry and handicraft booths, 92 clothes shops, 34 restaurants and 39 tourism booths are on display till 19 January.
A five-day festival, there are different activities including concert reflecting Lao traditional dance, culture and life style and sport competition.
Mr. Asang Laoly has struck the gong and cut ribbon to open the festival.
The coming tourism promotion festival will be organised in Vientiane Capital. The first festival was held in Savannakhet province, the second in Vientiane province, and the third in Khammouane province.
